Acoustics laboratory

People are constantly surrounded by a wide variety of noises. Noise is sound that people perceive as annoying.

The human ear can perceive frequencies between approx. 20Hz and 20,000Hz. In the field of room acoustics, signal transmitters such as dodecahedron loudspeakers or standard hammering machines are used to measure room acoustic properties (sound reduction index, impact sound insulation). These can be used to measure the corresponding characteristic values, such as the reverberation time in rooms, the sound reduction index or the impact sound reduction index.

Acoustic measurement technology also plays an important role in the field of machine acoustics. As individual frequencies can occur in narrow frequency bands in this area, a narrow band analysis (FFT analysis) is used, which also makes it possible to detect individual frequencies.
