The Fronius Solar Battery is an electrical energy storage system based on lithium iron phosphate technology, the most important characteristics of which are listed in Table 4.3. The Fronius Symo Hybrid (inverter) in conjunction with this battery storage system is one of the key components of the PV test stand. It is used to monitor, control and regulate the charge/discharge management of the Fronius Solar Battery. Data communication between the inverter and battery storage system takes place using Modbus RTU (RS 485) via the integrated Fronius Datamanager plug-in card. This plug-in card enables internal and external data exchange. Data is also transferred to the Fronius Smart Meter via Modbus RTU (RS 485). The Fronius Datamanager plug-in card also enables integration into the Ethernet (LAN) or WLAN. This enables system monitoring via a web browser. (Fronius, 2016)
