Vacuum chamber

With the help of the vacuum chamber it is possible to carry out investigations under exclusion of convection.

This means that unknown and therefore unwanted heat loss flows through the surrounding atmosphere can be avoided, which can improve the measurement accuracy and therefore the significance of a measurement. In order to achieve a sufficiently high vacuum quality, it is important to use materials that are suitable for vacuum. For example, Pt100 temperature sensors with PTFE-insulated leads are used for temperature measurement. The signal and power cables have a vacuum-compatible Kapton® sheath. To increase the temperature measurement accuracy, a heat-conducting paste specially designed for vacuum applications is used. In addition to signal and power feed-throughs, the vacuum chamber has special feed-throughs for operating fluid-based heat exchangers.

 

 

TECHNICAL DATA:

  • Stainless steel vacuum chamber (0.5 m x 0.5 m x 0.5 m) with transparent acrylic glass door
  • 13 chamber outlets for signal, power and fluid feed-through
  • Pumping unit consisting of rotary vane pump with 2.5 l/s pumping speed at 3,000 rpm and turbomolecular pump with >220 l/s pumping speed at 60,000 rpm
  • Vacuum quality: high vacuum (< 10-5 hPa)
  • Pressure measurement using Pirani/cold cathode transmitter
