The main objective is to develop a supply concept for the municipality of Neutal based entirely on renewable electricity and heat with the following characteristics:
5th generation heating network: A newly designed 5th generation heating network forms the local distribution backbone of energy in the municipality. The low system temperatures enable bidirectional operation, and the system temperatures mean that direct cooling applications as well as heating applications (via decentralised boosters) can be implemented. The integration of operational biogenic heat generation as seasonal compensation and the integration of multi-storey residential buildings in the municipality are also key features of the project idea.
High proportion of locally generated renewable electricity: The electrical energy generated by the relevant PV systems in the municipality is integrated with the aim of achieving a high self-sufficiency rate. The creation of suitable coupling points between the electricity and heating networks enables the utilisation of synergy effects between the two energy sectors.
Strategic use of regionally generated renewable electricity: In order to be able to support the renewable energy system regionally and thus meet the requirement of decarbonising the energy supply, electricity is to be purchased from outside at times of high renewable production (especially wind in Burgenland).
Involvement of local stakeholders: The needs of local stakeholders will be identified before the early concept phase, and the concepts developed will be discussed again with the stakeholders in a feedback process.
