In Burgenland, the last health report was written by the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences in 2017. The province of Burgenland, Department 10 (Health) is planning to publish the fifth Burgenland Health Report with a reporting period of 2017-2021. Publication is scheduled for 2023.

Health reporting is subject to a continuous development process both within and outside Austria. While a few years ago, the focus of health reports in the context of medical statistics was still on the causes of illness and death and the presentation of hospital discharge figures and healthcare services, contemporary health reporting centres on a comprehensive understanding of health and a comprehensive concept of health.

For this reason, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland GmbH aims to produce a comprehensive, determinant-oriented public health report for Burgenland, which provides information on the health situation and care of the Burgenland population, analyses it, presents trends and identifies the need for health policy action. Health reporting thus represents the starting point of the so-called Public Health Action Cycles.
