Educational cooperation in the AT-HU_innovative border region

Language(en)sensitive STEM education is the aim of the Interreg project "Educational Co-operation in the AT-HU_innovative Border Region" (BIG_inn AT-HU). The two experimental workshops "Feeling and seeing warmth" and "The colours of light" for children from the 3rd grade were held as a hybrid event in cooperation with the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.

In the BIG_inn AT-HU project, special emphasis is placed on learning through research/movement in connection with the overall language education work at kindergartens and schools. Thematic in-depth studies from the fields of science and technology are combined with the promotion of multilingualism/teaching of neighbouring languages (German/Hungarian).

In order to open up new vocational training perspectives for children, language skills and knowledge of the region (nature and economy) are promoted in cross-border partnership excursions.

In this context, the FH-Burgenland organised a workshop at MS Rechnitz on the topics of heat transfer and light. Interested parties from Austria and Hungary were able to register online to take part in this workshop. A list of the preparations to be made was sent in advance and all additional materials required were sent by post. In total, several classes from 2 schools from Hungary, 1 school from Lower Austria, pupils from the Anastasius-Grün-Gasse school centre in Vienna and the primary schools Oberwart and Unterwart as well as MS Rechnitz from Burgenland took part. Project managers from the partners and students from Benedek Elek University in Sopron were also represented online. The new didactic materials developed in the course of the preparations are published on the project website lms.at/interreg will continue to be made freely accessible to all interested parties.
