As part of these use cases, bidirectional DC charging points are being developed for the direct use of direct current from photovoltaic systems; these are also capable of feeding electricity from the car battery back into the grid. Furthermore, specially developed control algorithms are being used for system-optimised charging strategies to balance generation and consumption, as well as for the integration of aggregator and booking platforms. From the outset, these technological developments have been accompanied by a participatory process involving users and relevant stakeholders.
The findings from the demonstration will be supplemented by a large-scale scaling analysis regarding grid and renewable energy expansion, sustainability assessment and recommendations for regulation, standardisation and interoperability.
The Car2Flex concept aims to implement economic incentives for the e-mobility sector, e.g. for self-consumption from photovoltaics or the direct marketing of wind power. This supports the integration of renewable energies. Technological developments within Car2Flex will tap into the flexibility of batteries in electric vehicles, which can be utilised by grid operators or energy suppliers.
