Care and support staff are exposed to high levels of physical, mental and organisational stress. The consequences – rising sick leave, high staff turnover and a growing shortage of staff – highlight the urgent need for effective, practical health promotion measures. As facilities often have limited time and staff resources, external support is needed, along with practical, resource-efficient brief interventions and services.
Based on this need, the project aims to establish a hub for health promotion in care facilities in Styria, Burgenland and Salzburg. This hub will provide advice, quality-assured information, networking and exchange platforms, as well as practical services. A key element is the development of a website as a digital platform that brings together best-practice examples, quality-assured content and services from networking partners.
The project is being implemented as a collaboration between Styria vitalis, AVOS and the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. This partnership combines scientific findings and practical experience in a targeted manner to create a sound common basis for health promotion in care homes. There is also collaboration with the ONGKG to exploit synergies, strengthen common areas of action and promote the long-term embedding of the objectives. Building on these structures, the groundwork is being laid for a subsequent nationwide roll-out to provide sustainable support for health promotion in care homes across Austria.
