Evaluation_Burgenland Health Days

Gesundheit & Soziales

In this context, evaluative monitoring is of particular importance in order to be able to map systemic changes (installing incentive systems for higher participation in preventive check-ups) in addition to the effects on the people who make use of the offer.

The province of Burgenland has initiated the "Burgenland Health Days" project together with the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK). The main co-operation partner is the REDUCE health resort in Bad Tatzmannsdorf. The health days are an in-depth follow-up measure to strengthen lifestyle-associated health awareness following a health check-up by a family doctor or internist. Following the health check-up, an inpatient module (diet optimisation, exercise promotion, mental health, stop smoking) is defined at the REDUCE Resort Bad Tatzmannsdorf for lifestyle counselling in a participatory manner with the target group based on the results in consultation with the family doctor or internist. The target group for the project was selected as those aged between 40 and 65, who are invited to a preventive check-up once every ten years on their round or half-round birthday.

Formally, the insurance relationship does not play a role. The programme is open to all Burgenland residents whose main place of residence is in the relevant age group. From a health science and health system perspective, the aim of the health days is to increase the health awareness of the target group on the one hand and to create an incentive system for increased participation in preventive check-ups on the other.
