Contract research

The data currently available on child and adolescent health and evidence-based healthcare research is extremely sparse and incomplete throughout Austria. For fact-based strategic management of the healthcare system, a meaningful data basis is required, especially as the significance of different areas of life (e.g. work, housing, safety) for health only becomes visible through health reporting orientated towards the social framework conditions.

For this purpose, both a) routine data (e.g. birth and cause of death statistics, infection data) and b) survey data (e.g. from surveys) should be used. In this way, understanding and cooperation between different areas of society and politics can be promoted in favour of improved health and health and social policy decisions can be made in a needs-oriented and rationally justified manner and appropriate measures can be taken. Particularly as the routine data cited is largely provided by a central organisation, the aim of this study is to provide an evidence-based inventory of child and adolescent health in Burgenland with the involvement of relevant stakeholders.
