The "Teaching 2030" project, funded by the Erasmus+/Strategic Partnerships programme of the European Union and coordinated by Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, is developing a blended learning course for teachers in the tertiary sector in order to prepare them for Generation Z. In addition to teaching e-learning tools, the course also addresses communication skills and various roles as moderator, coach and designer of learning environments.
The online part of the course is designed as an innovative cBook format (computer book), which allows interactive learning formats and task types that can be tested and deepened in the face-to-face part within an iLab (innovation lab). In eight modules, the course deals in English with the topics that will stand for successful teaching in the future:
1. professional teaching role 2030
2. communication in on-campus classes
3. designing an on-campus training
4. creation and use of e-learning tools
5. working with social networks/media
6. writing skills on the web
7. designing a virtual classroom training
8. structuring the blended learning process
The course follows the dramaturgical concept of storytelling. Two teachers, the young lecturer Lucia and the experienced lecturer Marko, accompany the teachers through the various topics of the modules and talk about their teaching experiences. Embedded in these stories are the learning content, online exercises, tasks for self-study as well as materials and links to consolidate the course.
A consortium of eight countries and nine partners guarantees that the course is suitable for a wide range of applications. Through a final teacher training assessment, the 20 ECTS course can be used in the longer term at European universities and educational institutions as an integral part of teacher training. Important stakeholders in the project are therefore ministries of education, teacher training institutes, related EU projects and online course providers at European level.
