Advances in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) are driving disruptive change across numerous sectors. Generative language models and image recognition technologies are revolutionising human-machine interaction and offer the potential for efficiency gains in the areas of energy and the sustainable planning, construction and operation of buildings. Promising applications include the analysis of large volumes of data from energy monitoring, generative solutions for complex tasks, and forecasting and optimisation in energy management. AI technologies therefore play a key role in achieving Europe’s decarbonisation targets.
Despite technological advances, the implementation of AI poses a challenge for many companies. Reasons for this include a lack of expertise and strategies for integrating AI into business processes, as well as the identification of specific use cases and the resulting added value.
The sustAIn4Build project aims to optimise processes throughout the entire building life cycle using AI and to promote sustainable innovation. Austrian companies in the building services sector are being prepared for changes in the world of work and supported in developing strategies for the introduction of AI technologies. The focus is on key technologies in the fields of AI and data science, which will be of central importance for building services engineering in the future. These topics are addressed in a practical manner through specific use cases as part of the training programme.
