Following the pilot project, 2018 saw the continuation of the further training programme for social workers in child and youth welfare in the city of Graz, which meets the dynamic requirements for skills and abilities in child and youth welfare. This further education and training programme is intended to minimise staff turnover among new entrants to the child and youth welfare sector and give colleagues with many years of professional experience the opportunity to continue their training in line with professional standards. The content of the further education and training programme was designed by Prof. (FH) Dr. Roland Fürst and developed in consultation with experts from the Graz Youth Welfare Office.
From 2014 to 2017, the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences ran a further education programme for child and youth welfare workers. This project was developed as a "pilot project" for a continuing education and training programme and was therefore evaluated and monitored by the University of Graz.
The following five modules were designed for the further education and training programme:
- Module 1 - Specialised communication with children in the context of assessment and risk assessment
- Module 2 - Specialised communication with mentally ill parents including crisis intervention
- Module 3 - Case-specific case supervision in the context of child and youth services
- Module 4 - Professional writing and documentation - from expert reports to documentation in child and youth welfare services
- Module 5 - Transcultural communication and competences in child and youth services
