Affordable housing for women in Burgenland

The "Frauen(AR)MUT Burgenland" project has given rise to a working group of planners and social workers from women's advice centres who have continued to work on the problem of the lack of affordable housing for women and other vulnerable groups in Burgenland over the past two years. Based on findings from our own research, experiences from women's counselling centres in Burgenland were combined with international and research work and implemented projects, such as the "Neuner Immo Wien" project. This basis was used for the development of concrete test criteria for housing projects in the province of Burgenland. The aim in future is to examine housing projects for aspects of affordability for all social groups before funding is granted. Furthermore, this first set of criteria offers starting points for the development of different options for creating housing for women. It ranges from quickly available projects supported by social workers to the design of affordable housing. The focus of the next steps is on concretising the possible implementation for Burgenland.
