Determining the performance of chilled ceiling systems through simulation

Gebäudetechnik

In this project, the performance of cooling ceiling systems was simulated and different variants compared with each other. These simulations serve as a basis for deciding on further variants for further development.

Ke Kelit GmbH is a manufacturer of surface heating and cooling systems. The optimisation of ceiling cooling systems is a decisive factor for the market success of a system. In order to be able to estimate the efficiency of optimisation measures, the heat transfer performance was examined using a 2D simulation. The performance was compared with an existing variant. This meant that validation in a test was not necessary. To determine the performance data for heating and cooling in advance, 4 different variants were analysed with regard to the cooling and heating performance data using a numerical 2D simulation using CFD. These were classic cooling ceiling systems with plasterboard and metal ceiling systems.
