In the NAREG project, new concepts for ecologically sound and sustainable waste management are being developed and implemented in pilot projects in the Bratislava, Trnava, Samorin, eastern Lower Austria and Burgenland regions. Alternative material and energy recovery processes are being tested for those materials that are not yet being recycled.

Objectives

  • Survey and comparison of the current status of processing and treatment of waste (AT and SK) as well as analysis and status of current processing technologies and their practical use.
  • Improvement of separation accuracy to increase REUSE and re-design including implementation and networking.
  • Elaboration and improvement of the quality of joint education and training in waste management.
  • New material and energy recovery options will be developed and tested for those materials that are not currently being recycled.
  • With the help of a life cycle assessment, the measures achieved by the project will be ecologically evaluated and the resulting improvements in environmental impact quantified.
