Initial situation: Energy efficiency measures are provided for in all relevant existing or planned energy concepts or strategies at regional, national or European level. This is directly reflected in Austria's current Energy Efficiency Act, which includes measures for companies that must be implemented either as part of energy audits or energy management systems. New/further challenges in the areas of logistics, distribution and storage of renewable energy are the result.

Task: Structured analysis of regional energy consumption in the areas of "buildings, processes and mobility" including the realisation of research projects to develop accompanying measures and implementation plans. In addition to achieving energy savings, the use of regionally produced renewable energy is also to be promoted.

Objectives:

  • Identify potential savings in complex systems for buildings and processes, including a plan of measures and implementation strategy.
  • Use of regionally produced renewable energy in Burgenland (both consistent and volatile) while optimising ecological and economic framework conditions.
  • Solutions and optimisation of energy distribution grids using flexibilisation options such as demand side management, energy storage, alternative mobility, demand response, power to X or active load management.
