Renvelope - Energy Adaptive Shell

Energie & Umwelt

RENVELOPE - Energy Adaptive Shell is a project to modernise buildings for a low-emission, efficient energy supply. It addresses the challenge of converting existing buildings from fossil fuels to green energy sources. This cost-effective, circular, complete solution utilises an intelligent outer shell for energy supply and distribution.

The transformation of existing buildings into low-emission, active participants in a climate-neutral, volatile energy system is a challenge, especially in cities, as many buildings still largely rely on decentralised heat supply from fossil fuels. It is therefore important to offer and implement serial solutions for green heating and cooling supply, storage and distribution. RENVELOPE - Energy Adaptive Shell is a cost-efficient, scalable, recyclable overall solution for upgrading existing buildings that has system intelligence and can utilise locally produced renewable energy itself or make it available to higher-level grid infrastructure by means of suitable interfaces. The multidisciplinary consortium consists of renowned partners along the entire value chain.

The aim of RENVELOPE is to develop a cost-efficient, recyclable complete solution for the modernisation of existing buildings by conditioning buildings from an external envelope. This represents a paradigm shift from the traditional approach of housing the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems inside the building. By combining serial, multifunctional CO2-neutral building refurbishment with integrated, intelligently controlled building technology, RENVELOPE will make the building sector an indispensable pillar for the energy system of the future.
