Forschung Burgenland and the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences have been working for several years on options for integrating weather-dependent, fluctuating energy generation plants into their system environment. Depending on the level of integration, this system environment can be a building, a neighbourhood or a grid area for electricity, heat and/or gas. The findings to date have mainly been developed, validated and verified on a model and laboratory scale. Various implementation and operating strategies have been developed, which are now to be tested in a real environment.
Three different sector interconnection points will be created as part of this research and technology infrastructure project. These sector coupling points will be integrated into existing and future research and innovation projects of a demonstration nature. The overarching goal of both the infrastructure project and the associated research projects is the integration of renewable energies into an integrated overall system and the associated positive effect on the system's carbon footprint.
- Power to H2 plant at the Energy Hub Neusiedl
- Field test environment for high-temperature fuel cell and electrolysis systems
- Field test environment for Power2Heat and Power2Cool system solutions using heat pumps
