Evaluation of the Burgenland Climate and Energy Strategy 2050

Energie & Umwelt

The climate and energy strategy is to be subjected to an evaluation. In particular, it will be analysed how the goal of making Burgenland climate-neutral by 2030 can be achieved, building on the measures of the existing climate and energy strategy and taking into account the new legal requirements at federal and EU level.

Firstly, the term "climate neutrality" is to be defined for Burgenland based on the new legal requirements at federal and EU level. This definition will be carried out in consultation with the ministries and organisations. In a further step, the effects of the existing measures will be evaluated in relation to the definition of climate neutrality. A calculation tool will be created for this evaluation.

The calculation tool is based on the presentation form of the Burgenland energy balance according to Statistics Austria. Furthermore, the current CO2 equivalents of the Federal Environment Agency and its current reports for Burgenland are used. This basis is used to create a calculation tool that makes it possible to determine the effects of planned measures per energy source and per sector in terms of savings and switching energy sources towards climate neutrality.

The 10 measures of Burgenland's Climate and Energy Strategy 2050 are mapped in the calculation tool insofar as the measures can be quantified for energy sources and sectors. For non-quantifiable measures, qualitative estimates are made in co-operation with the relevant working groups.
