Trustworthy Interoperable Data Transfer for the Energy Transition

Energie & Umwelt

TIDE boosts the efficiency of energy communities through interoperable, secure data exchange and improved energy literacy. User-centred KPIs and data-driven services for flexibility management and consumption optimisation are being developed and implemented via an EU-compliant data intermediary.

The TIDE project – Trustworthy Interoperable Data Transfer for the Energy Transition – aims to improve the efficiency of energy communities (ECs) through interoperable, secure data sharing and by enhancing their members’ energy literacy.

A key focus lies in the development and optimisation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from an energy, environmental, economic and social perspective. These user-centred KPIs are intended to promote understanding and active participation among EC members, thereby contributing to increased efficiency. Based on these KPIs, measures and data-driven services are designed, for example in the areas of flexibility management, (self-)consumption optimisation and raising awareness of energy behaviour in collective systems.

Another key aspect is the integration of an EU-compliant data intermediary, which, as a trusted authority, enables secure, interoperable data exchange between different stakeholders within and between EGs. The services developed are to be implemented via this intermediary.

For validation purposes, three different EGs are being examined – a small EEG, a municipality-based EEG and a nationwide citizens’ community. This allows the effectiveness of the KPIs, the interoperability of the data solution and the effects of the measures to be tested under real-world conditions.

TIDE thus contributes to the further development of the energy community instrument by specifically promoting grid and system benefits as well as the use of locally generated renewable energy.
