Implementation concept "KEM priority region: getting out of oil and gas"

Energie & Umwelt

The innovative implementation concept to be developed, "KEM Priority Region: Getting out of Oil and Gas", has the following objectives: Development of measures to replace gas and oil heating systems with climate-friendly alternatives (e.g. climate-friendly local and district heating, wood heating systems or heat pumps), to reduce heating energy consumption (refurbishment, increased efficiency, etc.) and to expand renewable energy sources.

With the help of an innovative implementation concept for the so-called heat transition, Forschung Burgenland, together with project partners, wants to win the implementation project "Raus aus Öl und Gas" (Out of Oil and Gas) priority region and thus land the 3-year implementation project of the same name.

The " Raus aus Öl und Gas" priority region has the following objectives:

  • Replacing gas and oil heating systems with climate-friendly alternatives (e.g. climate-friendly local and district heating, wood heating systems or heat pumps)
  • Reduction of heating energy consumption (refurbishment, increased efficiency, ...)
  • Expansion of renewable energy sources

The planned implementation measures range from an exchange campaign and the organisation of a competition involving all fossil-based heating systems in the region (e.g. publicised "oil boiler casting" for the oldest oil boiler), the promotion of cross-municipal energy spatial planning including the creation of a sectoral concept for the regional heating transition, AI-based municipal energy accounting with a special focus on heating, the transfer of R&D results into practice, the organisation of a heating transition festival and campaigns to combat energy poverty.

The following municipalities are already participating in the priority region Eisenstadt, Wulkaprodersdorf, Siegendorf, Trausdorf, Oslip and Schützen am Gebirge are already participating in the focus region. and this is to be extended to 10 - 15 municipalities in the Eisenstadt district. In addition to the measures to be implemented, such as substantive subsidy advice and access to further subsidies, expert advice on various topics, the region benefits from the reduction in C02 emissions and thus makes a significant contribution to climate protection.
