Half of the respondents are optimistic about their own future, 43 per cent are mixed and only 7 per cent are rather gloomy. The future of Burgenland is also viewed rather favourably, although there are regional differences. The study on the fears and hopes of young people in Burgenland was conducted on behalf of the Kery Foundation.

The study reveals strong regional differences: 40 per cent of young people in the district of Jennersdorf view the future rather gloomily, compared to only 16 per cent in the district of Neusiedl am See. Education is also an important factor: the higher the education of the parents, the more satisfied the young people are.

Getting involved in politics is rated positively by young people, although this is not about party politics. Volunteering is also very popular among 14 to 19-year-olds. On the basis of the study, politicians launched a participation process in which young people can get involved in order to work out the main topics for the state youth department in the coming years.
