For clean plant operation, it is essential that the sensors provide the most accurate possible value of the residual oxygen content in the flue gas, the value of unburnt carbon monoxide or the value of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas.
The lambda sensor test bench was developed to test the measurement quality of different sensors on the test bench and also to determine possible cross-sensitivities to trace gases.
Any base gas composition can be produced on the test stand from the individual gases N2, O2 and CO2. Different trace gases can be added to this base gas concentration using test gases (CO, CH4, SO2, NO).
The gas can be heated to temperatures of up to 180°C using an electric heating cartridge in order to simulate the operating conditions of boiler systems as realistically as possible.
The output signals of the installed probes are continuously recorded and logged using the LabView programme. The values measured by industrial gas analysers serve as a reference value for the measurement. This makes it possible to determine the accuracy and, in the case of repeated measurements, the ageing resistance of the probes.
