Test stand for heat pumps and thermal cooling

Interactive test stand for electrically and thermally driven heat pumps and chillers for realistic modelling of static and dynamic effects under laboratory conditions for water/water or brine/water systems with condenser outputs <20 kW or <100 kW. (or stage 2 <100 kW)Temperatures up to 100°C can be applied as a heat source for thermally driven chillers.

On the test bench, test vehicles can be coupled with models from building and system simulation programmes (TRNSYS, Matlab) using the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) method. By using the HIL principle and bidirectional communication between hardware and software, environmental conditions can be simulated and the behaviour of the system tested under laboratory conditions, taking into account the building concept (single-family house, apartment building, office building, etc.). Measured values from the test vehicle serve as input for the simulation and outputs from the simulation as new target values for the test stand.

Mobile measuring equipment is used for measurements in the field in order to validate simulation models and thus optimise heat pump/chiller systems at system and concept level.

New control concepts can be created or improved on the basis of the HIL measurements.
