The heat transport behaviour of 3 different thermally conditioned ceiling constructions with sound insulation measures was investigated for the new university campus in Pinkafeld. The planned acoustic measures in the form of special louvre constructions below the conditioned ceiling areas influence the heat transport from the ceiling surface (= lower edge of the ceiling) to the heated room. In the heating mode, both the overall heat flux density is reduced by reducing the heat radiation and the required flow temperature is increased. In the heating mode, the reduction in radiation due to the shielding of long-wave radiation leads to an increase in the vertical temperature gradient and the radiation temperature in the room, which ultimately leads to a reduction in thermal comfort. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations were carried out with ANSYS Fluent to analyse the critical ceiling constructions and to investigate the reduction in radiant heat transfer and overall heat transfer.
