Fit for the Future – Making Transitions a Healthy Experience

Gesundheit & Soziales

Demographic change and an ageing population are having an impact on society and businesses. The rising number of older workers and the decline in the number of younger workers present businesses with a ‘double demographic dilemma’. In this context, it is becoming increasingly important to maintain the ability of older employees to work and to support their health and performance, particularly in the later stages of their careers and during the transition to retirement. The project at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences aims to facilitate healthy career transitions and to integrate workplace transition management sustainably into the occupational health management system. The project is primarily aimed at staff at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and its subsidiaries who are aged 55 or over. The project draws on the experience and expertise of the Department of Health & Social Affairs and follows the Public Health Action Cycle. As part of the project, an introductory session and a kick-off event will be held for staff. A steering group will oversee the project. In addition, quantitative surveys and a questionnaire on age-friendliness in the workplace will be conducted. The planning of measures will be carried out in a participatory manner with selected staff members. Communication takes place via newsletters, posters, leaflets, etc. This is intended to ensure the transfer of knowledge, to inform staff at the University of Burgenland about the project and to involve them.
