Given the continuous rise in global energy demand and growing environmental awareness, the energy management of traditional buildings is struggling to meet the requirements of sustainable development. SECPUB uses state-of-the-art BIM (Building Information Modelling) technology and digital twin systems to create a detailed digital model of a public building. This is linked to real-time data from IoT devices and sensors to holistically analyse energy consumption and operational status and optimise them with regard to thermal comfort. A key approach here is AI-based image processing. Optical sensors combined with artificial intelligence capture interactions between building users, identify behavioural patterns and enable precise visual analysis. The aim is to reduce the energy consumption and operating costs of public buildings whilst gaining new insights into the practical application of AI in smart building control. In doing so, the research project makes a pioneering contribution to the sustainable transformation of the construction industry and demonstrates how digital technologies and AI can fundamentally change building management.
