20/02/2023 - 31/07/2025

As an important pillar of care provision and the living and working environment of residents and employees, residential and nursing homes for the elderly represent a special setting for health promotion. Different target groups with increased needs can be reached in this setting. In addition to the residents, these include the people who work in the facility and their relatives. The "WERTSCHÄTZUNG Mensch" project therefore aims to strengthen the health resources of these three target groups using targeted methods and innovative approaches as well as framework concepts for integrated health promotion, such as "positive psychology", "job crafting" and "Betty Neuman's system model". The project is being carried out in the two Diakonie Südburgenland social welfare centres in Oberwart and Pinkafeld. The aim is to develop and implement action strategies and health-promoting measures that strengthen the health and well-being of residents, employees and relatives.

The project focuses on the topic of appreciation. Great importance is attached to developing and promoting the corporate culture in the direction of valuing employees and their skills. The project should be seen as an opportunity to improve working conditions in the care sector. In addition to promoting an appreciative corporate culture, the project aims to establish an appreciative approach to the target groups of residents and their relatives. Taking up the topic of health promotion more intensively is also perceived as an opportunity: On the one hand, to increase the attractiveness of the care profession and promote the employability of employees and, on the other hand, to maintain the health of residents and improve their quality of life.

At the end of the project, the knowledge gained will be discussed with relevant stakeholders in Burgenland with the help of a transfer group and transferred to other residential and nursing homes for the elderly.
